Books about the Dega
A reading list for anyone who wants to understand the Dega properly — our own young people above all. It lists the books and articles we trust, what each is good for, and where it can be read. Many are free online.
Reports and documents
The human rights record of the Dega since 1975 is written mainly in reports: by Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, by governments, by the United Nations, and by Dega organizations themselves. Archives and collections
Where the evidence of our history is kept: the archives of the governments and armies that dealt with us, the mission libraries, the museums that hold our objects, the sound archives that hold our music, and the community organizations that keep what the institutions did not. Films and recordings
Where to see and hear the Dega: American wartime films now in the public domain, later documentaries, community videos made in our own languages, and the field recordings of our music held in Paris, some of them free to listen to online. We list what we have been able to find and check.
Theses and academic studies
A list of doctoral and master’s theses and academic studies about our peoples and the highlands, with links. It is for students, researchers and anyone who wants to go deeper than this library can. Every item below was checked against a library catalog, a thesis register, the publisher or the DOI registry; where a work is free to read online, we...
